A New Biography Reassesses Françoise Dolto, Controversies Included
Historian Emmanuelle Loyer publishes a biography of the psychoanalyst and broadcaster, due from Gallimard on 29 October.

Gallimard will release « Françoise Dolto. Biographie » on 29 October, a new study of the psychoanalyst by historian Emmanuelle Loyer. According to Livres Hebdo, which describes the book as a magisterial biography, Loyer does not avoid the controversies that have gathered around Dolto's public figure.
Dolto, who died in 1988, remains one of the most recognisable figures of French psychoanalysis, known both for her clinical work with children and for her long-running radio broadcasts that brought child psychology into ordinary households. Loyer is a historian whose earlier work has focused on intellectual and cultural history.
Livres Hebdo gives no further detail on the book's contents, structure or length. The publication date is set for 29 October, through Gallimard.
