Editions Zoé launches a collection to revive Switzerland's literary heritage, starting with Catherine Safonoff
The new series, Les Dirigeables, gathers roughly 1,000 pages of selected works by a major Swiss author in a single volume. Its first subject is the Geneva novelist Catherine Safonoff.

Editions Zoé has launched a new collection meant to bring attention back to Switzerland's heritage authors, according to Le Temps. Named Les Dirigeables — an image, the paper notes, of something voluminous yet light, a vehicle for exploring unknown territory — the series will assemble around 1,000 pages of selected works by one major Swiss writer per volume, offering readers a way to (re)discover them.
The first volume is devoted to Catherine Safonoff, the Geneva-born novelist, and was supervised by the author herself. It opens with La Part d'Esmé, her debut novel published in 1977 by Bertil Galland, and runs through to La Fortune, published by Zoé in 2024, bringing together five novels and two short stories written over nearly five decades.
The volume is completed by a previously unpublished album in which Safonoff presents her own family photographs, each accompanied by her commentary, according to Le Temps. The paper describes the arc of her work as a quest for freedom.
