Le Petit Nicolas returns with twelve new stories
Created in 1959 by René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé, the schoolboy character comes back to bookshops on October 8 with an entirely new set of adventures.

Le Petit Nicolas is due back in French bookshops on October 8, with twelve new stories published by Imav éditions, according to Livres Hebdo. The project is carried by Anne Goscinny, daughter of René Goscinny, together with writer Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod and illustrator Fursy Teyssier, who take over the universe her father created in 1959 with Jean-Jacques Sempé.
Livres Hebdo interviewed Anne Goscinny for the occasion. In the piece, titled after her own words, she says Le Petit Nicolas was the only one of her father's characters that had not continued to exist after his death — a line that frames this new volume as a deliberate revival rather than a routine reissue.
The source material does not detail the plots of the twelve stories, nor how Arrou-Vignod's writing or Teyssier's drawings depart from or echo the originals. Those specifics will presumably become clearer once the book is available.
