Jean Orizet, a poet who spent his career promoting the art, has died at 89, Livres Hebdo and Le Monde reported.

He cofounded the publishing house Le Cherche Midi and, in 1968, the poetry magazine Poésie 1, which Le Monde notes sold for one franc — the price of a metro ticket at the time — as part of an effort to bring poetry to a wider readership.
