The organisers of the Prix des Deux Magots have released the first selection for the 2026 edition, according to Livres Hebdo. Ten novels are in contention, though the outlet's report does not name the titles or authors.

This is the 93rd running of the prize, one of the older fixtures of the French literary calendar, awarded each winter from the Left Bank café of the same name. A second, narrower selection is expected on 21 September, ahead of the announcement of the winning book on 5 October, Livres Hebdo says.

No further details on the ten novels have been published yet. Tomeling will follow the shortlist as it narrows.
